The proposal includes ambitious projects like data centers, gigafactories, and even an "Elon Musk Smart Manufacturing Zone." It also suggests a train system connecting Gaza to Neom, a megacity project in Saudi Arabia. These large-scale infrastructure plans are a key part of the GREAT Trust's vision.
But amidst these grand plans, the immediate concern remains the shortage of food and medical aid in Gaza. Israel has severely restricted aid truck entries for months, and the current peace treaty terms only allow a maximum of 400 trucks per day for a limited period. This highlights the urgent need for a sustainable aid distribution system.
Alternative plans for Gaza's redevelopment exist, such as the proposal linked to former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair. These plans emphasize the importance of a commercially driven approach, led by business professionals, to generate investment projects. Another group, Palestine Emerging, also proposes a phased development strategy to rebuild Gaza's housing and economy.
